Courtney Cox was born in 1965 in Birmingham in a rich family. Her father was a big businessman in the city. Cox has two elder sisters and a younger brother.

Courtney Cox acted in the very popular American Serial 'Friends' in the role of Monica Geller. She also acted in other television series Scrubs, Scream and Dirt. She is currently nominated for her excellent acting in Cougar Town.

Cox joined Washington University to obtain degree in Architecture. But she dropped out of the course and followed her heart in excelling in modeling and acting career. In 1984 she appeared first in a music video and then came into limelight. Courtney Cox also appeared in the tampon advertisements and was the first woman to use the word period in the media. In the 80s she acted in few movies like The masters of the universe, The cocoon and The return. She also appeared in Seinfeld as Jerry's girlfriend. Before getting in television industry, Cox acted opposite Jim Carrey in his comedy flick Ace Ventura : Pet detective.

Courtney Cox got her big break in acting after she appeared in the well known character Monica Geller in 'Friends'. The series started airing in 1994 and went on till 2004 with ten popular seasons. Initially Cox was auditioned for the role of Rachel Green, which was played by Jennifer Aniston throughout the series. Cox is the first woman in the television industry who got one million dollar paycheck for acting in television series. She bagged one million dollars for her acting in the last two seasons of the sitcom Friends.

After 'Friends', Courtney Cox was offered a role in 'Desperate Housewives' which she could not take due to pregnancy at that time. She acted as Adam Sandler's sister in the recent movie 'Bedtime stories'.
