Brooke Shields is an American actress, author and a model whose best known for her ads for Calvin Klein Jeans with the famous tag line "You want to know what comes between me and my Calvin's? Nothing", and probably helped put Klein's career to super-designer status. Brooke was born in New York City. She grew up in a well-known American society family with links to Italian and French nobility. Her Grandmother, Donna Marina Torlonia was the Italian princess.

Brooke began her modeling career at age of 11 months: her first appearance was for Ivory soap. After her first modeling career she continued as a successful child star. In 1978, she appeared in Louis Malle's "Pretty Baby", her first major film role, where she played a child who lived in a brothel. In 1980, she was the youngest fashion model ever to appear on the cover of the top fashion publication Vogue magazine. In the same year, she appeared in a number television shows; she was the youngest guest star to ever appear on the Muppet show. She also recorded the narration for the Sony/BMG recording of The Runaway Bunny, a Concierto for Violin, Orchestra, and Reader, by Glen Roven performed by Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

When Brooke reached the age of 16, she became one of the most recognizable faces in the world, because of her dual career as a provocative model and controversial child actress. In 1981, she won the People's Choice Award in the category of Favorite Young Performer in four consecutive years from 1981-1984.

Due to her intention of attending Princeton University she had to put her film career on hold from 1983- 1987 and she graduated with a degree in French Literature. She wrote an autobiography, entitled on your own, published in 1985.

Brooke married Chris Henchy a television writer. The couple has two daughters: Rowan Frances and Grier Hammond.
