Rebecca Sara Newton comes from New Haven, Connecticut and is best known for her role of the receptionist from Ugly Betty. Born mid '78, she has a bit of English blood in her. She studied and completed her studies in European History at Pennsylvania Uni and also speaks two other languages apart from English.

She started off in local productions but after moving to NY, she got roles in ads for TV. Her career on TV (apart from ads) started off in '03 where she made an appearance in "Cold Case". Before getting a part in "Ugly Betty" for 4 years from '06, she was in "Law & Order: SVU", "Charmed", "P.S." and "August Rush" amongst some of the movies and series. Portraying Amanda Tanen in "Ugly Betty" got her the presence on TV and nominations for 2 years ('07 and '08) along with her colleagues for an Outstanding Performance by an Ensamble in Comedy Series.

She also made couple of songs for the same series in the same years. Due to unsatisfied ratings, the show isn't in production anymore, but the latest news say that she will reprise her role in the "Ugly Betty", the movie. Apart from "Ugly Betty", she also lent her voice for 1 episode of "American Dad" in '08. She appeared in reality TV shows including ET!.

On a personal front, she's been married for approx 5 years now, to a guy she met by pure chance in metro in NY. As much as she's best buddies on-screen with Michael Urie, the two of them are also friends when the cameras stop rolling. Putting a foot in the door of entertainment industry may have something to do with her family, as her older sibling is an actor; her mum is an artist and her auntie plays a violin.
