
Annabella Sciorra is an actress who is most well known for her role on the HBO series The Sopranos. She was born March 29th, 1964 in Connecticut but was raised in New York City.
Sciorra began acting at just 13 years old with formal training in the Hagen-Berghoff theatrical studios. Her career took off in 1989 when she was in the film True Love. Her role was as an Italian-American raised in Brooklyn who was ridden with angst. This led to many subsequent roles in films like Cadillac Man, Mr. Wonderful, Reversal of Fortune and many more. Most of these roles cast Sciorra as the wife or girlfriend of the main star, including celebrities like Tim Robbins and Robin Williams.
She particularly gained attention for her role alongside Richard Gere in Internal Affairs. This role led to her being picked by Spike Lee for a role in his controversial film called Jungle Fever in 1991. Annabella Sciorra plays an Italian American who falls in love with a black man played by Wesley Snipes. Even though Annabella Sciorra was often typecast as the Italian-American wife figure, she was able to really prove her versitality as an actress in the many different types of roles that she took on.
Despite her flexibility as an actress, Annabella Sciorra was once again cast as the Italian-American wife in the HBO series The Sopranos. Her character is as Gloria Trillo who is tough and quick witted. Sciorra appeared on the series from 2001 to 2004. Afterwards, she could be seen in many other TV series with appearances on shows like Law & Order: Criminal Intent, ER, The L Word, and Mental. Her newer roles in film include movies like Chasing Liberty, Twelve and Holding, and Marvelous.
