Adriana (Francesca) Lima was born In Salvador, Brazil, on June 12, 1981. Today she is one of the world’s most well known and well paid supermodels.

Although Lima never intended to be a model, life had other plans for this beauty of Portugese, French, Carribean and Native American descent. It all started when a friend who was entering a modeling contest asked her to enter as well, to keep her company. Soon after that, at the tender age of 15 Lima entered and won in Ford’s "Supermodel of Brazil" contest. In 1996, she entered Ford’s "Supermodel of the World" contest and finished in second place. Three years later she gets signed with Elite Model Menagment and moves to one of fashions capitals - New York.

Her modeling career takes off as she appears in numerous editions of the fashion Bible - Vogue as well as Marie Claire. She also worked as a runway model for some of the fashion industry’s biggest names, such as Ralph Lauren, Vera Wang, Armani, Valentino, Christian Lacroix and others. She was the face of many brand names among which are Mossimo, Swatch, BeBe, BCBG, and FCUK, to name a few and a spokesmodel for the make up mogul Maybelline, from 2003-2009.

What she is best known for though, are her Guess? clothing ads and her work with Victoria’s Secret, as she has been one of their "angels" since 2000. In 2000 she appeared in the movie "The Follow", with Mickey Rourke and Forest Whittaker.

She also made appearances in TV shows "Ugly Betty" and "How I Met Your Mother" as herself. She has been voted one of the world’s sexiest and most beautiful people many times. A devout catholic, Lima was a virgin until she married Marko Jaric, a Serbian basketball star on Valentine’s day in 2009. The couple have one daughter named Valentina Lima Jaric, who was born on November 15, 2009.
